About the Firm
Foundation Finance & Tax (基石财税) is a boutique tax practice — closer to a professional advisory firm than a retail tax-prep chain.
Our Story
Our name reflects how we work: 基石 means cornerstone. Good tax compliance is a foundation — built carefully, documented properly, and designed to support whatever you build on top of it.
Clients usually come to us when their tax situation involves more than a simple W-2: foreign gifts, overseas accounts, student or work-visa status, stock compensation, rental property, small-business income, entity returns, amended returns, or IRS and state notices.
Led by
Jasper is an IRS Enrolled Agent — a federally authorized tax practitioner licensed to represent taxpayers before the IRS. He is also a Certified Acceptance Agent for ITIN applications and a Certified QuickBooks Bookkeeper.
The firm focuses on practical, detail-oriented tax preparation and compliance support, with particular depth in China–U.S. cross-border matters: foreign gifts, FBAR and FATCA reporting, F-1/J-1/H-1B tax issues, and resident/nonresident transitions.
Success Stories
A few examples of what careful tax work looks like in practice. Details are generalized to protect client privacy.
Every year we handle more than 200 late foreign-gift and foreign-trust filings — organizing the facts, drafting reasonable-cause statements, and filing carefully. Not a single client has received a penalty.
A rental property owner had years of unclaimed depreciation sitting on the table. We caught it up through a change in accounting method and saved them thousands of dollars.
A business owner received a penalty notice for his U.S. company. We reviewed the facts, prepared a structured response, and got the penalty removed entirely.
Several clients had refunds from selling U.S. real estate stuck behind the IRS identity verification process. We worked through the verification and got their withheld money back.
We helped small business owners rethink their business structure — and they now save thousands of dollars in tax every single year.
Every case starts the same way: you tell us what is going on, and we map out the options. Past results depend on individual facts and do not guarantee a particular outcome — but careful work makes a real difference.
How We Work
Every engagement begins with an engagement letter that names the exact forms, tax years, and fees before any work starts. No vague promises, no surprise bills.
Documents move through a secure client portal — upload, e-signature, draft review, and final delivery. Your sensitive information never travels by unprotected email.
We translate complex requirements into plain language. You will understand what is being filed, why it is required, and what records to keep.
We work with compliance-heavy filings — Forms 3520, 8938, 5471, 5472, 14653, 14654, 843, 3115, CA Form 568 — and name them precisely, because the details matter.
Tax letters and missed filings cause anxiety. We focus on careful fact development and realistic expectations — never guaranteed outcomes or pressure tactics.
No handoffs to seasonal staff. The person who quotes your work is the same person who prepares it, reviews it, and answers your questions.
Tell us about your situation. We will reply with the exact forms, a clear scope, and a quote.
